This blog was created for artists who have an interest in painting. It is intended to share technology, ideas, and display work. As most painters know, experimentation with drawing, writing, and photography can be crucial to the development of a body of work, and so the 'painting' part of this is up to interpretation.

India ink, conte, AND chalk ...on CANVAS?!
(no paint?)
dimensions please.
um. ja? I also used a lot of artists' fixatif to keep the chalk on and to manipulate it... 22 x 28".
...there is red oilpaint involved in the background but you can't see it in the detail.
what a bunch of odd questions, winnipeg.
I ask because I can't see the canvas texture. Did you fill the fabric with paint then draw on that, or is the weave full of chalk?
wha? i can see the canvas' texture just fine. easy peasy lemon squeezy.
and is that an expression of, pain, longing, fatigue, "doh", or anger?
or would you rather leave that up for interpretation.
also, praying mantis heads look like puppets.
mm. praying mantis heads look like thalamuses to me.
& expression? dunno david. the sitter was reading... possibly slightly uncomfortable... the text was difficult... interpret as pleases you.
